CLOTHES
“Evzones” is the name of a historical elite infantry unit of the Greek Army. Today, they are the soldiers of the Presidential Guard, who also guard the Greek Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Presidential Mansion and the gate of Evzones military barracks.
They are also known as “Tsoliades”.
They wear the famous “foustanella”, a white skirt-like garment.

FOOD
Souvlaki  is the most popular Greek fast food. Souvlaki consists of a pita stuffed with tomato, French fries, meat, onion and sauce. The meat is usually pork or chicken, but in other countries and for tourists, souvlaki may be made with other kinds of meat: lamb, beef or even fish (especially swordfish). The word souvlaki is a derivative of the Greek word “ souvla” “skewer”, a loan word from Latin [subula].

HOUSES
Traditional houses in Greece were made of stone and had tiled roofs. They had thick walls to keep the inside cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The windows were wooden with shutters to keep the inside shady. Rich people had two-floor houses with many rooms, while villagers had two-floor houses with a cellar, a storage room or stables.
